PGY2 Pharmacy Residency Programs
The PGY2 Pharmacy Residency Programs builds on the Doctor of Pharmacy education and PGY1 pharmacy residency program to contribute to the development of oncology clinical pharmacists in advanced or specialized practice. The Memorial Regional Hospital, Memorial Cancer Institute, Memorial Hospital West, and Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital PGY2 Residency Programs will provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care that improves medication therapy.

MHS encourages employees to ensure that we can successfully continue to create and foster a welcoming, respectful workplace environment.
Research
Postgraduate pharmacy residents will conduct successful research or quality improvement initiatives. This will facilitate residents achieving research goals for the program. In addition, most sites offer a Research Certificate Program (RCP). This is a joint series of workshops and didactic lectures that build skills necessary to successfully complete a pharmacy outcomes research project. The RCP runs longitudinally across the residency year with research calendar aligned deadlines. A certificate is awarded upon program completion. Residents present their research posters at ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and the Florida Residency Conference.
Community Outreach
Residents participate in various community outreach and service projects. Examples of our program outreach includes preparing Thanksgiving baskets for Washington Park Homeowners Association Turkey Drive-Thru and Holiday Food Market. We also participate in the Annual Adaptive Sports and Recreation Bowl-A-Thon benefiting the Memorial Rehab Fund and Adaptive Sports Program. In addition, we’ve participated with Feeding South Florida. With this project, residents assisted with the inspecting, sorting, and repacking of donated food. We also regularly donate to the Orange Brook Elementary Holiday Food and Toy Drive, purchasing and wrapping toys for children in our service area.
Engagement
Our residency programs involved with local pharmacy society – SESHP. Residents present a one-hour live CE at the Annual SESHP Resident Forum. This is a two day seminar that offers general and consultant credit to pharmacists and technicians. Some of our preceptors and staff are board members and advisors in the statewide society, FSHP. We regularly attend, facilitate and present at society meetings.
