Hip Replacement Surgery
Replacing worn-out joints can help you move pain-free again.
Hip replacement surgery (hip arthroplasty) can help relieve pain and restore movement to joints damaged by arthritis or a fracture. You may need hip replacement surgery urgently, such as after a fall that causes a hip fracture. Or you may have tried non-invasive therapies for hip arthritis and found they aren’t effective.
Hip replacement surgery has come a long way in recent years. Newer techniques and advances have made it possible to perform the surgery as an outpatient procedure. We get you up and moving within hours of leaving the operating room to reduce complications and speed your recovery.
Our innovative surgical methods also mean more efficient joint replacement. Using computer navigation, fluoroscopy (live X-rays), and robotic assistance, we’re able to plan precise placement for implants. This accuracy results in more natural movement and helps hip implants last longer.
After surgery, you can participate in our Total Joint Replacement Recovery Program. Our exercise physiologists create a customized recovery plan just for you. During group or individual sessions, you do supervised exercises that help you recover faster, build strength, and improve mobility. See our outpatient rehabilitation locations.

Types of Hip Replacement Surgery We Offer
Orthopedic trauma (like a fall) in older adults often results in a hip fracture. Our unique protocol enables geriatric fracture patients to quickly move from the emergency department to the operating room. The sooner you have surgery, the more successful your recovery will be.
Surgeons can access and replace the hip joint from the back (posterior) or front (anterior) of the pelvis. Whenever possible, we use the anterior approach. This technique allows us to go between the muscles that stabilize the hip instead of cutting through them. You benefit from:
- Faster recovery
- Fewer complications
- Greater hip stability
- Less muscle damage
- More accurate positioning of the implant
Hip implants can wear out over time or loosen from the surrounding bone. An infection can develop, an injury can cause a fracture around the implant or the hip can become unstable and dislocate. A failed hip replacement can be difficult for people to manage.
Fortunately, our surgeons are experienced in performing challenging revision hip replacement surgery. We are one of only a few centers in South Florida with the expertise to take on these complex cases.
