About Me

I am an orthopedic surgeon at Memorial Healthcare System where I specialize in hip and knee replacements, including both primary joint replacements and complex revision surgeries. I care for patients with hip and knee arthritis, avascular necrosis, and complications from joint replacements such as infections, dislocations, pain, instability, or wear of prosthetic joints. I also treat patients with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and post-traumatic arthritis—conditions that often cause pain, stiffness and loss of mobility that can profoundly affect quality of life.

I especially enjoy caring for patients who are motivated to get back to activities of daily living. Movements that have been avoided for years like walking, hiking and even taking care of grandkids are often achievable after undergoing treatment for debilitating arthritis. I consider myself lucky that after surgery, patients can often feel many years younger again.

I grew up in a family of doctors, so medicine has always been part of my world. From a young age, I saw how powerful it can be to help others feel better, and it just felt natural to follow that path. Orthopedic surgery made sense because it combines precision and hands-on work. Replacing an arthritic joint and seeing a patient regain movement and return to baseline without pain is incredibly rewarding.

My goal is to help each patient return to an active, pain-free lifestyle using the most effective and modern techniques available, whether that’s through anterior or posterior hip approaches, robotic assistance, personalized implant selection or muscle-sparing methods for knee replacement. I believe there’s much more to patients than their disease, so I strive to take a comprehensive and inclusive approach to care, considering every aspect of their lives that affects their health and recovery.

I’ve had the chance to live in several countries, speak English, Spanish, and German and have been lucky to get a broad educational background with different degrees and even spaceflight research. These experiences have shaped the way I think about innovation, teamwork and how medicine can directly improve patient care.

I remain committed to advancing science through ongoing research and education. Thus, I continue to write and publish scientific papers, serve on editorial boards and participate in mission trips to help underserved populations. These activities have made me a better physician. It’s a privilege to help patients move without pain, and I look forward to being part of your journey toward better mobility and quality of life.
