Sports Injuries and Related Conditions We Treat
Our highly skilled care team has years of experience in diagnosing and treating common sports injuries and related conditions, such as:
A strain is a stretched or torn muscle or tendon (tissue that connects muscle to bone), and a sprain is a stretched or torn ligament (tissue that connects bones). Sprains and strains can result from overuse, falls, sudden twists, poorly fitting footwear or forceful impacts such as tackles or other contact during sports.
Pain, swelling and inflammation in tendons is known as tendonitis. Causes include injuries, sports participation or conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis.
Sports Injury Diagnosis and Treatments
At the Memorial Sports Medicine Center, our doctors begin your evaluation by discussing your symptoms and conducting a physical exam. You may need imaging tests so your doctor can diagnose the injury or condition and begin planning your treatment.
Our sports medicine team uses advanced imaging technologies. We can do X-ray and mini-fluoroscopy (live X-ray, like a video) right in our office, so you don’t need to go to another department.
We treat a variety of conditions in our office with specialized injections, using ultrasound to guide the procedure for precise results.
