Located in the heart of Broward County, Memorial Healthcare System's Emergency Medicine three-year residency program that blends rigorous training with a vibrant, supportive community. Our program, which hosts a close-knit group of 30 residents, thrives on the diverse and often critically ill patient population that our South Florida location attracts. From tourists and seasonal residents to the local community, our residents gain unparalleled experience in managing a wide array of medical challenges. With faculty who are passionate about teaching and fostering growth, our program offers an environment where residents are encouraged to explore their interests while becoming part of a family-like culture.

We participate in the Electronic Residency Application Service and will only accept applications for our residency through this process. All interested applicants should coordinate their application with their dean’s office at their respective medical schools. For more information about our program please continue to browse our website or you may always contact one of our residency program assistants by e-mail or phone.

The Emergency Medicine Residency Association maintains a nationwide map of all of the current emergency medicine residencies with links to their websites. The Council of Residency Directors in Emergency Medicine also maintains a listing of residency vacancies for residents currently in training who are searching for transfer opportunities. If a residency vacancy for our program becomes available during the academic year, we will advertise it on this site.

About Us

  • Emergency medicine residents going over a critical patient exercise at the emergency department
    We are a community-based, university affiliated program sponsored by Memorial Healthcare System—which has a long history of medical education and research through our affiliations with Florida Atlantic University, Florida International University, and Nova Southeastern University.
  • We have an Office of Human Research with its own IRB, allowing residents to participate and lead research efforts.
  • 3-year training program with 10 residents per post-graduate year.
  • 4-week clinical block schedule that maximizes clinical time while providing opportunity for additional experiential learning.
  • Three unique sites for clinical training, each of which has its own distinctive patient population, assuring residents a diversity in patient experience, both socioeconomically as well as pathophysiologically.
  • Large Emergency Department volumes with high admission rates indicative of patient populations of particularly high acuity.
  • Access to an $18 million, 66,000 sq. ft., three story Simulation Center at Broward College.
