About Me

I am a neurologist and neuroimmunologist at Memorial Neuroscience Institute. I specialize in caring for patients with multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunologic disorders, such as neuromyelitis optica, stiff person syndrome, neurosarcoidosis, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) and transverse myelitis.

I was always interested in biology and human physiology, which drove me to attend medical school. During a research project, I shadowed a physician in a multiple sclerosis clinic and saw firsthand how the disease affected patients’ day-to-day lives. I knew I wanted to devote my career and talents to helping MS patients manage complications and symptoms so they could live their lives to the fullest.

I completed medical school in one of the biggest MS centers in Turkey and then completed training at Temple University in Philadelphia, where I had the chance to care for patients with complex cases. I went on to complete MS-focused training at the University of Florida.

When working with patients, I am thorough and ask a lot of questions about the first presentation, current symptoms, as well as about their life in general, so I can begin to understand their goals for treatment.

I believe it’s important for all patients to advocate for their health and try to educate them about their diagnosis or disease. I want my patients to understand their condition so we can work together to make joint decisions about their care.

In addition to patient care, I am also involved in research and educating the doctors of tomorrow.
