Conditions We Treat

We treat a wide range of men’s health conditions, including:

Erectile dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is an inability to get or keep an erection. There are many causes of ED, including certain chronic diseases and urologic cancer treatment. Medications, psychological issues and lifestyle choices can also lead to ED. Our urologists work with you to find the cause and a treatment that works for you.

Low testosterone

Testosterone is a male sex hormone that plays an important role in your overall and sexual health. Low levels can cause many symptoms, such as low energy, erectile dysfunction and muscle loss.

Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is a common treatment for low testosterone. However, many men aren’t aware it can reduce fertility. At Memorial, we offer TRT and alternative therapies for men who want to increase testosterone while preserving their fertility.

Infertility
Male infertility is a factor in about half of couples who are unable to get pregnant. Our services include semen analysis to assess your fertility. We also perform microsurgical sperm extractions for use in fertility treatments.
Peyronie's disease

Peyronie’s disease occurs when scar tissue develops under the skin of the penis. The scar tissue causes your penis to curve, especially during an erection, causing pain and difficulty having sex.

Peyronie’s disease may result from an injury or microinjuries to the penis, such as during vigorous sex or sports. Other risk factors include certain connective tissue or autoimmune disorders, older age, diabetes and prior surgery for prostate cancer.

We typically treat Peyronie’s disease with in-office injections into the scar tissue. If injections aren’t effective or you have a severe curvature, we may recommend surgery. Our urologists are talented surgeons with extensive experience in the surgical treatment of Peyronie’s disease.

Ejaculatory disorders

The main types of ejaculatory disorders include:

  • Premature ejaculation that occurs too soon during intercourse
  • Delayed ejaculation that takes an unusually long time
  • Retrograde ejaculation, in which semen flows backward into the bladder during ejaculation
  • Anejaculation, which is an inability to ejaculate with or without orgasm

Ejaculatory disorders treatment depends on the type and cause but typically involves identifying and addressing an underlying condition. Medications, lifestyle changes, behavioral techniques and psychotherapy can also help.

Hydrocele
A hydrocele is a sac in the scrotum that fills with fluid and causes swelling. Although it’s more common in infants, adolescents and adults can also develop the condition. Hydroceles often go away on their own. When they don’t, or they cause pain, we can surgically remove the hydrocele.
Varicocele
Varicocele occurs when veins inside the scrotum become enlarged. Most men with varicocele don’t need treatment unless it affects their fertility. The main treatment is surgery to tie off the enlarged veins and reroute blood flow. At Memorial, we use a microsurgical approach, which allows for greater precision and preserves the surrounding tissues.

Sexual Health After Cancer

Cancer treatments (i.e., radiation, surgery, chemotherapy, and hormone therapy) can cause erectile dysfunction, low testosterone, and ejaculatory issues. After cancer treatment is completed, our men’s health specialists are here to help restore your sexual health.
