About Me

Chief, Vascular & Endovascular Surgery

I am a board-certified vascular surgeon who treats conditions affecting the arteries and veins. I care for patients with carotid artery disease, poor circulation in the legs, varicose veins and complex aortic disease. A particular focus of my practice is helping patients with diabetes and circulation problems heal wounds, preserve their limbs and maintain their independence.

My experience includes both minimally invasive endovascular procedures and open surgery for complex aortic aneurysms and dissections in the chest and abdomen. I also treat thoracic outlet syndrome, which occurs when nerves or blood vessels going to the arms become compressed, and provide vascular access for patients who need dialysis. In collaboration with spine surgeons, I perform surgical exposure of the spine, carefully moving blood vessels aside to provide access for spinal procedures.

As Chief of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Memorial Healthcare System, I am committed to improving the quality of care we provide and helping train the next generation of surgeons. I helped lead Memorial Regional Hospital’s achievement of Comprehensive Inpatient Vascular Center verification through the American College of Surgeons and the Society for Vascular Surgery. My research has included thoracic outlet syndrome and angiogenesis—the formation of new blood vessels to improve circulation.

I want my patients to feel heard, understood and supported. I take time to explain their condition, answer questions and discuss treatment options with them and their families. Facing a vascular problem can be frightening, and I believe a calm, compassionate approach is an essential part of good care. Helping someone regain their mobility, return to everyday activities or feel comfortable again is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

Outside the hospital, I enjoy spending time with my wife and son. I enjoy watching my son play tennis and making time for family. I also participate each year in the World Medical Football Championship, representing the Venezuela national team in a tournament often described as the soccer World Cup for doctors.
