About Me
I have always been fascinated by the human body and appreciated the special relationship between patients and doctors. I chose to focus on pulmonary and critical care because of the complex interactions between the heart and lungs, and the importance of their intricate relationship with the other organs and systems in the body.
Many of the patients we encounter in the ICU/CCU are extremely ill and recovering from surgery. I always treat my patients the same way I would want to be treated if I were in the hospital. I like to have sincere and honest conversations with patients and their families, so they understand what is going on. It is always satisfying to watch patients recover quickly and bounce back after health challenges thanks in part to the care we have provided.
Prior to joining Memorial, I was director of pulmonary services at St. Barnabas Hospital/CUNY School of Medicine in New York, where I worked closely with residents and fellows. I always did my best to make sure they were well-trained and understood the complexities of patients and their ailments/conditions. In 2019, I was honored with an award for the Best Teaching Attending.
I also have two Master’s degrees — in public health and epidemiological research — and have always worked with my residents and fellows to develop research projects to submit for presentation at various medical conferences.
