About Me
I am a neurointensivist at Memorial Healthcare System. I care for critically ill patients who are in the hospital (and often the intensive care unit) due to ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, subarachnoid hemorrhage, seizures, CNS infections, cerebral edema, acute neuropathies and their association complications. My goal is to help recover, preserve, and prevent further neurologic damage.
I was always fascinated by physiology and neurosciences, which resulted in a natural draw towards neurology, but I also enjoyed learning and addressing other diseases that impact neurologic functioning. This all combined into my interest in neurocritical care.
Every patient and their family come to the hospital with different experiences, cultures and backgrounds. All of these play a role in delivering care to a patient. I try to meet the needs as individually as I can to make sure that I address complex neurologic disorders in a multi-faceted way. I also collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team of clinicians to make sure that no aspect of a patient's care is neglected. I enjoy getting to know patients and family and find it particularly rewarding when I witness patients improve and recover.
In addition to patient care, I also enjoy teaching and presenting information on neurological disease and care. While in residency, I was selected as one of the chief residents where I had a role in resident education and was recognized with a reward for my research. During my fellowship, I gave presentations to neurology residents, other critical care programs and members of the neurosciences critical care program. I hope to continue my research and teaching efforts throughout my career to improve care and outcomes.
Research
My research interests focus on improving the treatment and outcomes for neurology conditions. Current research interests include idiopathic intracranial hypertension and subarachnoid hemorrhage.
