Professional Development and Education

Your Success Is Our Mission

You have so many options for professional growth when you’re a nurse at Memorial Healthcare System. At smaller organizations, you may have fewer opportunities to transition to new roles. At Memorial, we have six hospitals with different sizes and specialties, from pediatric to geriatric.

You will find many programs and educational opportunities to help you develop professionally. You can move forward in your career, whether you’re interested in working at the bedside, in management or both. You can branch out into different areas of nursing without ever leaving the Memorial system.

And best of all, you’re surrounded by teammates and leaders who want you to succeed.

Clinical Ladder

The nursing clinical ladder provides a structured program for bedside nurses to progress in their roles and to contribute their expertise and skills to patient care.

Details

Clinical ladder participants receive credits (points) for a variety of activities:

  • Teaching on their unit
  • Pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degrees
  • Participating in projects
  • Completing tasks that are above and beyond their job description

Nurses use the data they see every day on their units to develop their projects and improve care delivery and patient support. Nurses can lead projects that are:

  • Evidence-based
  • Research-based
  • Related to quality improvement
