I am a cardiologist at Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute. I evaluate and treat patients with cardiac-related conditions such as coronary artery disease, cholesterol issues and blood pressure problems. I also evaluate to see whether symptoms such as chest pain and shortness of breath are related to cardiac issues. I particularly enjoy helping patients take prevention measures to reduce the risk of having a cardiac event or experiencing a recurrent cardiac event.

I was inspired to become a physician after witnessing family members cope with different medical illnesses. I saw firsthand the special role that physicians played in helping both patients and their families through their challenges and knew I wanted to do the same to help others. Knowing heart concerns affect many people today, I chose to specialize in cardiology.

As a clinical cardiologist, I work personally with patients to figure out the potential causes of their health ailments. Diagnostic work is like detective work – it requires a lot of listening, time to understand fully what the patient is experiencing and sorting through all the myriad of details in the background of medical knowledge and expertise that we have.

After we have a better idea of a potential cause of a problem, then we develop a plan to help them feel better. At the end of the day, there is nothing more rewarding than being able to help a patient work through medical issues and improve their health.

I completed my medical school at Case Western Reserve University, with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. I then completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Chicago and a cardiology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. I have been a cardiologist for nearly 30 years and worked in the private sector as well at an academic health center before joining the Memorial team.
