Medical Director, Memorial Division of Integrative Medicine

Ashwin Mehta, MD, who is board certified in internal medicine and sleep medicine, earned his medical degree in 2005 from St. George’s University School of Medicine in St. George’s, Grenada, in the West Indies. He completed his residency in 2008 at the University of Florida College of Medicine, in Jacksonville, Florida, followed by a fellowship in sleep medicine in 2009 at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. He then trained as a fellow in the Program of Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, from 2009 to 2011. Dr. Mehta served as an assistant professor of clinical medicine from 2009 to 2015, at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, where he also served as Medical Director of Integrative Medicine at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center from 2011 to 2015.  Dr. Mehta is a conference co-chair for the Society for Integrative Oncology annual meeting in November 2016, and he applies integrative modalities in his clinical practice. His expertise includes nutrition, exercise, sleep, yoga and mindfulness to achieve wellness in the context of coping with challenging treatments for chronic health conditions.

Dr. Mehta’s research interests include the use of preventative medicine and positive health behaviors to improve quality of life in patients being treated for cancer, heart disease and neurological conditions, as well as those undergoing rehabilitation.

In 2015, Dr. Mehta joined Memorial Healthcare System and Memorial Physician Group to launch the Memorial Division of Integrative Medicine. In collaboration with a team of experts in complementary techniques, Dr. Mehta has developed innovative, client-centered wellness programs aimed to enhance quality of life throughout the spectrum of care.
