About Me

I am a board-certified neurosurgeon at Memorial Neuroscience Institute. I care for patients presenting with pain or neurological impairment resulting from surgically treatable conditions of the neck and back. I also treat patients who present after a traumatic injury to the head or spinal column.

Growing up, I was drawn to mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology. Then during my undergraduate years at the University of Pennsylvania, I took a course in neuroscience and was instantly hooked. I was fascinated by how the transmission of signals through the nervous system involved elegant orchestrations of cellular functions based in the biological application of mathematics, physics and chemistry. This realization spawned an interest in the practical application of these scientific fields, leading me towards medicine, and ultimately, neurosurgery.

My goal with every patient is to improve their physical function, reduce their pain, and enhance their quality of life through surgical intervention.

All too often in medicine, attention is focused on a condition rather than on how that condition may impact that person's function and quality of life. I never forget that my patients are real mothers, fathers, daughters, sisters, brothers and grandparents. I treat them with the same care and compassion I express to my very own family.

In addition to providing patient care, I'm also a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Florida Neurosurgical Society.
