David’s Aortic Valve Repair Surgery at Memorial

When he was in his mid-40s, a physical exam revealed that David’s aortic valve wasn’t functioning properly.

“I was in shock,” he said. “I’m a former athlete who stayed in shape – very active and very busy at work.”

The heart surgical team at Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute performed a successful aortic valve repair surgery, and David came away very impressed with the entire Memorial effort – from the expert surgical team to the hospitable staff.

“They did everything to make me well again,” he said. “I owe them so much; they made me feel like I was part of their family. They put a smile on my face and they put a smile on my family’s faces.

David was quickly back to spending time with his family and being there for his children.

“I don’t take anything for granted anymore,” he said. “And I appreciate the small things and the big things in life.”
