Medical Director, Pediatric and Congenital Cardiac MRI

Dr. Lazaro E. Hernandez is a pediatric cardiac imaging cardiologist with advanced training in pediatric cardiac MRI.

Dr. Hernandez earned his medical degree from the Instituto Superior de Ciencias Medicas in Villa Clara, Cuba in 1996. He did his residency in pediatrics at the Paquito Gonzalez Cueto Pediatric University Hospital in Cienfuegos, Cuba in 1999. He finished a fellowship in pediatric cardiology in 2002 at the William Soler Pediatric Heart Institute in Havana, Cuba followed by a year of non-invasive pediatric cardiac imaging fellowship in the same institution.

After moving to the United States, Dr. Hernandez did his internship in pediatrics at Jackson Memorial Holtz Children’s Hospital in Miami, FL in 2011 and his residency in pediatrics at the New York Presbyterian Weill-Cornell Medical Center in New York in 2012. Dr. Hernandez completed his fellowship in pediatric cardiology and advanced cardiac imaging with emphasis in pediatric cardiac MRI at the University of Minnesota, Amplatz Children’s Hospital in 2015.
