American College of Cardiology HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence

The American College of Cardiology (ACC), a global leader dedicated to transforming cardiovascular care and improving heart health, has awarded Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute its “HeartCARE National Distinction of Excellence.” Memorial becomes just the third facility in Florida, and the only one south of Vero Beach, to earn this recognition.

The designation is the highest level of recognition granted by the ACC. It is awarded to hospitals that consistently exceed national benchmarks for cardiovascular care, actively participate in registry-based performance measurement and quality initiatives, promote a culture of team-based care, continuous improvement, and transparency, and lead community education and outreach efforts to support heart health.

“This achievement reflects our continued commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered cardiovascular care and places us among an elite group of hospitals nationwide recognized for their dedication to clinical excellence and quality outcomes,” said Michele Slane, vice president of Memorial’s Cardiac and Vascular Institute. “Being the first in South Florida to achieve this milestone is a powerful testament to the strength, collaboration, and innovation of our team.”

Altamonte Springs-based AdventHealth and Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital in Vero Beach are the only other sites in Florida to have the HeartCARE designation.

“Hospitals receiving this recognition from the ACC have demonstrated their commitment to consistent, high-quality cardiovascular care through comprehensive process improvement, disease and procedure-specific accreditation, professional excellence, and community engagement,” said Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH, FACC, chair of the ACC Accreditation Management Board. “Memorial has proven to be a forward-thinking institution with goals to advance the cause of sustainable quality improvement.”

Memorial Cardiac & Vascular Institute offers a wide array of services dedicated to the prevention, detection, treatment, and rehabilitation of heart and vascular conditions, including cardiology, electrophysiology, adult congenital heart disease, heart failure, heart surgery, and heart transplant.
