After six years of dialysis, Marilyn received a kidney transplant soon after she turned to Memorial.

“She was registered on the transplant list and received a kidney within weeks,” said Seyed Ghasemian, MD, chief, abdominal transplant surgery.

Recent data from the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients shows Memorial Transplant Institute has one of the highest kidney transplant rates and one of the shortest times to transplant in Florida, which can decrease or even eliminate time on dialysis for some patients. Basit Javaid, MD, medical director, transplant nephrology, attributes this to Memorial’s dedication to evaluating and listing patients quickly.
