I am an internal medicine physician at Memorial Healthcare System. I care for patients with a variety of everyday illnesses and injuries, as well as those with chronic conditions that affect many adults today. This includes diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and other ailments related to lifestyle (such as respiratory disease from tobacco exposure and/or occupational exposures, and joint disease and musculoskeletal disorders related to overuse or excess weight). 

While going through my medical training, I was attracted to primary care due to the education element. As doctors, we can treat illness and injuries, but it’s better to prevent the issue or stop it early, if possible. I have always been attracted to the possibility of intervening preventively with education and evidence-based information to improve health. 

As a primary care physician, I enjoy developing relationships with my patients. In addition to helping them reach their health goals, we can identify risk factors, modifiable behaviors and create treatment plans when issues do arise. When a patient trusts their provider and understands the disease process and proposed treatment, adherence with recommendations is enhanced markedly.

In addition to internal medicine, I am also board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. When not in the office, I enjoy being active. Before a knee injury, I was an avid runner and ran 13 marathons in cities around the world, including the Boston marathon in 2013 before the explosion. While I no longer run, physical activity and exercise continue to be an important part of my life.
