Medical Director, Adult Cardiac Transplant, Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathy
I am a board-certified advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologist. I care for patients with complex cardiac conditions including heart failure, cardiomyopathy and pulmonary hypertension, as well as cardiac transplant patients and patients supported by mechanical cardiac support.
The heart is the body’s engine and it is rewarding to be able to evaluate and treat heart conditions with the goal of giving patients and families back their confidence and quality of life.
I love working at Memorial Healthcare System because we put the patient first. I work with a multidisciplinary team that is able to meet all of the needs of our patients and provide compassionate, comprehensive care. We treat all of our patients like family.
I earned my medical degree from the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania. I then trained in internal medicine at St. Joseph Hospital/Northwestern Medical School in Chicago and completed two fellowships: one in cardiovascular disease at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and a second in heart failure and cardiac transplantation at Washington University School of Medicine.
Prior to joining Memorial Healthcare System, I was the founder and medical director of the Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. I am an active member of the Heart Failure Society of America, American College of Cardiology, and International Society of Heart and Lung Transplant. I am actively involved in clinical research and love to teach.
