Memorial Hospital Miramar Earns Prestigious CMS 5-Star Quality Rating
October 03, 2025

Memorial Hospital Miramar is proud to share that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has awarded the Miramar-based hospital its highest 5-star rating, making it just one of three in all of South Florida, and the only in Broward County, to receive this prestigious distinction.
This national recognition highlights Memorial Miramar’s exceptional performance in patient safety, outcomes, experience and quality of care and is a direct reflection of the tireless commitment, compassion and professionalism shown by our entire team.
“Achieving a 5-star rating from CMS is not only a major accomplishment – it’s a testament to the daily dedication and skill of our team,” said Stephen Demers, chief executive officer of Memorial Hospital Miramar. “From nurses and physicians to support staff and leadership, every member of our hospital family plays a role in delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.”

CMS Star Ratings are based on comprehensive public data across multiple performance categories, including:
- Mortality
- Safety of care
- Readmissions
- Timely and effective care
- Patient experience
“Delivering high-quality care to everyone who comes through our doors is at the heart of what we do. Receiving this award is a meaningful recognition of the exceptional care we strive to provide our patients, ensuring they feel supported during life’s most challenging times,” said Alvaro Visbal, MD, chief of staff and medical director of Critical Care Medicine at Memorial Hospital Miramar.
This 5-star recognition follows the fourth consecutive “A” Hospital Safety Grade from the Leapfrog Group, which placed the hospital among a select group of facilities nationwide recognized for sustained excellence in safety and reliability.
Together, these national accolades reaffirm Miramar’s status as a top-performing hospital and trusted care partner for the community.
