Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute at Memorial Regional Hospital has been named one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics.

“Recognition by Truven is welcome confirmation of Memorial’s commitment to providing outstanding cardiac care and to setting new standards in the prevention, detection and treatment of cardiovascular disease,” said Richard A. Perryman, MD, Medical Director, Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute and Chief of Cardiac Surgical Services, Memorial Regional Hospital and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. “Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute is proud to help lead the way in better outcomes for cardiovascular patients.”

Now in its 16th year, Truven’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals study evaluates and scores cardiovascular hospitals across the country in selected performance areas such as inpatient and extended outcomes, clinical processes, efficiency and cost. Truven determined that for the two most common cardiovascular conditions – heart attacks and heart failure – Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute outperformed other hospitals in these key areas. The list was published in the November 10 edition of Modern Healthcare magazine.

This is the second time that Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute at Memorial Regional Hospital has been recognized with this honor. The institute was one of seven providers in Florida, and one of five in South Florida, to make the list.

Since 1993, the Truven Health 100 Top Hospitals program has used independent and objective research to guide hospital and health system performance. Organizations do not apply or pay for this honor, or pay to promote their award.

Memorial Healthcare System has been a leader in providing high-quality healthcare services to the South Florida community for 60 years. Today, it is the third-largest public healthcare system in the nation and is highly regarded for its exceptional patient- and family-centered care.
