Memorial Hospital West Family Birthplace is hosting a one-day, interactive babysitting class for people 13- 17 to learn how to safely care for young children and/or their siblings.
This interactive babysitting course is designed to prepare people 13-17 to stay safe while home alone, caring for young children and/or siblings. Throughout the course, students will build their skills through fun and interactive activities, including games, hands-on practice, group discussions, and digital presentations.
TOPICS
- Safety Skills: How to recognize and avoid dangerous situations, and what to do in emergencies like weather events or power outages.
- Child Care Skills: Tips to stay in control, guide children’s behavior, and meet the needs of kids at different developmental stages. Includes practice with diapering and feeding.
- First Aid and Rescue Skills: Hands-on practice with rescue techniques and how to respond to common injuries and illnesses as well as choking rescue and CPR.
- Babysitting business basics: How to find jobs, talk to parents, set pay, and build a trusted reputation.
