About Me

Chief, Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine

Dr. Jheanelle McKay is double board-certified in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Emergency Medicine. She graduated summa cum laude from Caldwell University, NJ with a Bachelors of Arts in Biology and Chemistry. She earned her medical degree in 2013 from Jefferson Medical College (Thomas Jefferson University)in Philadelphia, where she was recognized for Achievement in Scholarship, Integrity, and Ethics by her graduating class. She completed her Pediatric Residency in 2016 in the Boston Combined Residency Program in Pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School and Boston Medical Center/Boston University.

Between residency and fellowship, Dr. McKay served on the pediatric faculty at both Harvard Medical School and Boston University School of Medicine and her academic and research interests centered on medical education, with a particular focus on Just- In-Time training applications in pediatrics and the emergency department. She later completed her Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship in 2022 at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School before joining the team at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.

Dr. McKay is a member of several organizations including the American Medical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Emergency Medicine and the American College of Emergency Physicians. She has authored several peer-reviewed publications and has conducted regional and national presentations.
