Dr. Anel Alvarado is a board-certified general surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. A native of Panama, he attended the San Vicente de Paul University, where he received his bachelor of science degree. He earned his medical degree in 1987 from the Central American Autonomous University in Costa Rica.

Dr. Alvarado completed his surgical residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, in a training program affiliated with both the University of Miami and Memorial Regional Hospital. Working with Memorial, Dr. Alvarado has been caring for patients in South Broward County since 1992. He has served as both Chief of Surgery and Vice Chief of Surgery for Memorial Hospital Miramar.
Dr. Alvarado has special interest and training in advanced laparoscopic procedures, such as colon resections, splenectomies, and complex ventral and inquinal hernia repairs.
