About Me

Associate Chief Medical Officer, Memorial Healthcare System
Chief, Pediatric General Surgery Program
Program Director, General Surgery Residency Program

I am a pediatric general surgeon and chief of pediatric general surgery at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital. I perform surgery on children to treat a variety of illnesses and injuries, most commonly hernias. I'm also interested in congenital anomalies and neonatal care.

Growing up, I always enjoyed fixing things, so when I was exploring options in medicine, surgery seemed like a natural fit. I was also inspired by my pediatric surgical mentors and the impact they had on the children in their care. As a surgeon, I enjoy having the ability to make a tangible difference in a child's life. It's always a pleasure to watch my patients recover and grow, and get to see or hear from them years later in good health.

When meeting with a child or family, I like to hear from the child first. I want to hear in their words what is bothering them and what they are experiencing. Then, I will go through their detailed medical history, and look through the tests and studies they may have had done. I want my patients to know and feel that their voice and opinion matters.

In addition to my work as a surgeon, I'm also a mom to three kids, two rescue dogs and a bird. I'm the president of the Florida Association of Pediatric Surgeons, and I serve on the programs committee for the American Academy of Pediatrics and the education committee of the American Pediatric Surgical Association. I'm also actively involved in the Association of Women Surgeons.
