Frequently Asked Questions
What is MemorialDOCNow?
It’s a live video chat with a physician. With MemorialDOCNow you can see a doctor face-to-face online. No appointment is necessary and you can use it at any time 24/7. It’s a convenient way to see a doctor when your doctor’s office is closed, you’re too sick or busy to see someone in person, or even when you are traveling.
How can the doctor make a diagnosis online?
Just as in the office, a diagnosis is made based on your visit. For your minor medical conditions, a doctor will review your history and ask you questions. Based on your symptoms and discussion, the doctor will make a diagnosis and recommendation for treatment. The doctor may even prescribe medications if deemed necessary. Prescriptions can be sent to the pharmacy of your choice.
Who are the doctors on MemorialDocNow?
All doctors are board-eligible physicians. You can view their profiles and see their education and experience. The physicians providing clinical services on MemorialDOCNow are all affiliated with Memorial Healthcare System, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital or our partner American Well Online Care Group.
Can I use MemorialDOCNow for my children and spouse?
Yes. Your spouse and any child over the age of 18 who is on your health insurance, should create a separate account using your insurance subscriber ID. Parents and guardians can add their children who are under age 18 to their account and have doctor visits on their behalf. Simply navigate to “My Account,” select “My Profile,” and scroll down to the “Add Children” area.
When would I use MemorialDOCNow?
For non-emergency conditions, you may use MemorialDOCNow at your convenience. Use MemorialDOCNow when it works best for you. For example:
- I think I should see a doctor, but can’t fit it into my schedule
- My doctor’s office is closed
- I’m traveling and staying in a hotel
