Learn how our high-risk OBs and maternal-fetal medicine specialists care for our high-risk pregnancy patients and babies in South Florida

Exceptional Care with a Personalized Approach

Memorial Healthcare System is ready to support you if you have a high-risk pregnancy or your delivery is at higher risk for complications. Our skilled team in South Florida is known for treating complex and rare conditions, such as preeclampsia, placenta accreta spectrum, and diabetes mellitus (gestational diabetes).

Using our compassionate and patient- and family-centered care approach, we’ll focus on you and your baby — so you can have the safest possible experience. This is made possible because our providers take the time to get to know you as an individual, not just a medical condition. We want to listen to your worries and answer your questions. And we want to care for your mental and emotional wellness throughout your pregnancy journey.

Access High-Risk Pregnancy Care

If you have a high-risk pregnancy, your OB will refer you to our care, even as you are in labor. Antepartum Unit

For some high-risk pregnancies, you’ll need to stay at the hospital for days or weeks before delivering your baby. In our antepartum unit, you can receive extra care and monitoring from doctors and nurses experienced in caring for high-risk pregnancies. With this extra monitoring, we can act fast to keep you and your baby safe if anything about your health changes.

While staying in our antepartum unit, you can access online maternity classes and support groups to start preparing for your little one. We also encourage you to speak to our social workers or chaplains about how you are feeling during your stay. Taking care of your mental health before your baby’s arrival is important.

Inpatient Care

Inpatient care means you are admitted to the hospital and stay overnight. At Memorial Family Birthplace hospitals, you’ll stay in a comforting environment designed to help you welcome your baby to the world.

Each location offers specialized care, including Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Level IV NICU (the highest level in Florida) and Level III NICUs at Memorial Hospital West and Memorial Hospital Miramar.

Outpatient Visits

We provide outpatient care at our OB/GYN offices throughout Broward county for your prenatal and postpartum visits.

Maternal and Neonatal Transport

Sometimes, it’s not clear that you have a high-risk pregnancy until you are in labor. Our specially trained transport team, including an OB and registered nurse, will pick up patients from other hospitals in the region to ensure you are cared for during transport. You may be taken via Medivac helicopter or ambulance to deliver at Memorial Regional Hospital.

Financial and Insurance Assistance

We work to care for every family in the region who has a high-risk pregnancy by accepting a wide range of insurance plans and offering financial assistance for patients in need. Our financial assistance representatives can help you with a wide range of financial questions and concerns, including:

  • Insurance waivers to ensure coverage if your pregnancy is deemed high-risk
  • Flat fees for certain services
  • Set prenatal care, delivery, and C-section prices for patients without insurance
  • Memorial Healthcare System-funded insurance

Our perinatal nurse navigator can help you with the financial aspects of your care and connect you with our billing and financial assistance teams.
