About Me

I am a pediatric hematologist and oncologist at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. I care for patients with benign hematologic disorders, sickle cell disease and cancers. I also have a special interest in pediatric cancer survivorship, which includes addressing long-term side effects of cancer, treatment and helping patients with their overall health and wellness after cancer.

As a pediatric doctor, I often help patients and their families through one of the hardest times in their lives as they deal with chronic conditions and/or cancer. I enjoy helping them identify a diagnosis, creating a treatment plan and then walking with them along the journey. I am not only there to treat them physically but also to support them mentally and emotionally. When a child is sick, the whole family is impacted. At Memorial, we focus on being there for the entire family unit so that everyone can rally around the child and help them get well.

I was drawn to oncology because it truly is one of the marvels of the medical field today. Cancer care is changing and transforming rapidly with the discovery and creation of new treatments and improvements in the treatments that we already have – leading to less toxicity, improving survivorship and increasing collaboration among medical teams to enhance the overall patient experience and outcomes.

Now that children and adolescents are surviving and thriving for decades after cancer, we are continuing to find ways to help them manage and improve their health as they get older. As a doctor, working with patients post-cancer is a treat because we get to help them through a difficult time in their lives and then witness them come out on the other side. I have seen many of my pediatric patients go on to achieve amazing dreams. It is such an honor to see and experience these exciting milestones and know that I played a small part in helping them get there.
