About Me

I am a neuro-endovascular surgeon caring for patients with injury and disease in the brain, neck, or spinal cord at Memorial Healthcare System. I specialize in the treatment of neurological emergencies such as aneurysms, acute ischemic stroke, arteriovenous fistulas and congenital diseases such as arteriovenous malformation (AVM) among others. I also have expertise in all neuro-interventional procedures such as lumbar drains, lumbar punctures, mechanic thrombectomy for stroke, implantation of stents, angioplasty and cerebral angiography.

I am board-certified in neurology, neuro-critical care and vascular neurology, and trained at one of the largest stroke centers in North America. I’ve always been fascinated by the human body and enjoy the challenge of complex cases that involve the most delicate and complex organ – the brain.

I’m uniquely trained in both the medical management of cerebrovascular disease as well as neurovascular surgical management, which means I can provide care for patients with and without surgery. Not everyone needs surgery, and I’m experienced in both areas of medicine, allowing me to decipher the best course of action catered to each person’s need.

My patients are often facing serious health problems that can lead to death or severe disability. Along with delivering life-saving care, I also support their loved ones and provide clear, honest information that helps them understand the situation and make informed decisions.

In addition to providing patient care, I’m active in research, training and education. Throughout my career, I have received numerous teaching and research awards and contributed to landmark studies and trials that have transformed the way we treat patients suffering with ischemic stroke. My work has also helped formulate stroke guidelines in Europe.

More than anything, I am proud that my medical knowledge and expertise are making a difference in the lives of others. There is nothing more gratifying than providing treatment or surgery that saves someone’s life and helps them heal.
