Interested applicants must be graduates of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree program and be eligible for Florida Pharmacist Licensure and a Florida Pharmacy Intern license.

Non-Traditional Residency

The MHW non-traditional PGY1 residency program provides already-employed Memorial Healthcare System pharmacists the opportunity to develop themselves by obtaining a residency program. This is a two-year program during which the resident spends an equal time in residency learning experiences and staffing within the department. The non-traditional resident will complete the same residency graduation requirements, learning experiences, and is held to the same level of expectation as a traditional PGY1 resident.

The pharmacists' salaries at the time of acceptance into the program is maintained throughout their residency program duration with the potential for merit increases with results of the annual performance evaluation.

International Residency

Application Process

Applicants must be enrolled in the Saudi Arabia Culture Missions Scholarships (SACM) to qualify for and be eligible for post-completion Optional Practical Training under your student F-1 Visa. If you are eligible for post-completion Optional Practice Training (OPT) under your student F-1 visa, you should submit your application for OPT as early as possible, 90 days before your graduation date. OPT is not tied to a specific employer. Do not wait until the Match! With the increasing processing times for OPT applications, any delay in submitting your application may result in a delay in your ability to start your residency. Make sure you are in touch with your university or school’s international office to arrange the OPT application and to have your questions answered.

As per policy, the resident(s) must be eligible for and obtain Florida Pharmacy Intern license by the residency program start date. Additionally, the resident(s) are encouraged to complete examination for Florida pharmacist licensure by August 1st following the start of the program and MUST obtain Florida pharmacist licensure by 90 days from the residency program start date. Failure to achieve Florida pharmacist licensure by the indicated date will result in the dismissal from the program.
