Curriculum

Our didactic curriculum will be patterned after the Model of the Clinical Practice of Emergency Medicine: https://www.abem.org/public/resources/em-model using Tintinalli’s Emergency Medicine: A Comprehensive Study Guide as our textbook of reference. Content will be covered in a multitude of ways:

  • Initial 4-week block dedicated to Orientation at the beginning of residency training
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS and ATLS training and certification
  • Suture, Splint and Ultrasound workshops
  • Daily Morning Report
  • Weekly Academic Conference that is protected and will be conducted in various formats
    • Traditional lecture
    • Morbidity & Mortality case discussions every week
    • Small group case-based discussions covering core content
    • Journal Club both during dedicated academic conference time as well as beyond
    • Mock oral board review
    • Grand Rounds
  • Understanding Healthcare Series sponsored by the Central Graduate Medical Education Office
  • Simulation Curriculum dedicated to key index resuscitations and procedures:
    • Adult and Pediatric Medical & Trauma Resuscitation
    • Intubation and Invasive Procedures
    • Standardized patients-Challenging situations
