Research and Clinical Trials
The Division of Thoracic Surgery collaborates closely with colleagues in medical oncology, allowing patients with advanced lung cancer to have access to the latest clinical trials. By participating in innovative clinical research, patients often have access to some of the newest treatments available anywhere.
Open protocols for lung biopsies for interstitial lung disease (ILD), for example, are available for those with this disease. Memorial Cancer Institute also has open clinical trials for patients who are not considered candidates for surgery. To learn more about lung cancer clinical trials, click here.
interstitial lung disease (ILD)
Interstitital lung disease (ILD) refers to a group of lung diseases affecting the interstitium (the tissue and space around the air sacs of the lungs).
