That is why we created The Family Birthplace, a special place for you, your baby and every member of your family. Through every step of your pregnancy, we are dedicated to providing the support, education and high-quality services you need for a happy and healthy pregnancy, delivery and hospital experience. The Family Birthplace is a facility of Memorial Regional Hospital, Memorial Hospital West and Memorial Hospital Miramar.
Family-Centered Care

Childbirth Education Classes
The Family Birthplace at Memorial offers an education program called Expectations & Beyond that will help prepare you for the birth of your new baby. Expectations & Beyond features a variety of classes, including pre-pregnancy planning, childbirth preparation, baby care, infant CPR and more. We also provide special classes just for dads, siblings and grandparents.
Your Birthing Experience
When the time arrives to deliver your baby, you will enjoy a warm, home-like environment with comfortable accommodations where you can share the birth experience with your entire family. Our beautifule Maternity Suites are furnished with medical equipment. Talk to your physician about the different birthing options available at Memorial.
Care by an Experienced Staff
It is comforting to know that The Family Birthplace at Memorial can provide prompt, advanced medical care when difficult situations arise. Our staff of board-certified neonatologists, anesthesiologists, neonatal nurse practitioners and specially trained neonatal nurses utilizes the latest techniques and procedures to monitor babies 24 hours a day, and every nurse is certified in neonatal resuscitation.
Lactation Services
Our board-certified lactation consultants have extensive experience in counseling breastfeeding mothers. New mothers can learn how to breastfeed successfully and how breastfeeding benefits their babies. Breastfeeding classes, educational materials, in-hospital support, and breast pump rentals and sales are available through Lactation Services.
