Brett Cohen, MD, FACS
Medical Director Bariatric Surgery
Dr.Cohen is a board-certified general surgeon. He received his MD at the University of Miami where he also did his general surgery training. After completing six years of training in general surgery, he spent another full year studying under the guidance of one of the nation's leaders in laparoscopy and weight loss surgery. He completed his advanced laparoscopic fellowship at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
His dedication to weight loss surgery has come from the success inherent to these surgeries and the differences that they make in patient's lives. Dr. Cohen performs the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, the Lap-Band and the sleeve gastrectomy. He is also one of the first and only surgeons in South Florida to offer the Stomaphyx procedure for patients who have struggled with their weight loss or have gained some weight back after gastric bypass surgery.
Jeremy Gallego Eckstein, MD, FACS
Dr. Eckstein received his MD degree at the Lius Razzeti School of Medicine in Venezuela, before completing general surgery residencies at the Mount Sinai Medical Center and Maimonides Medical Center in New York.
After completing his training in general surgery, he spent another year studying minimally invasive bariatric surgery at Cleveland Clinic in Florida where he learned the latest techniques in laparoscopic weight management surgery. Dr. Eckstein is board-certified in general surgery.
Thomas Bass, MD, FACS
Dr. Bass is a board-certified general surgeon specializing in bariatric surgery. He received his MD from the Medical College of Virginia and completed his surgical residency training at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center at Pennsylvania State University. In addition, he completed fellowships in both minimally invasive surgery and surgical critical care, for which he holds additional board certification.
His interest in weight loss surgery began during his minimally invasive surgery fellowship, where he witnessed the life-changing effects that weight loss surgery can have. Dr. Bass is also a proctor for the Lap-Band System, and is responsible for training other surgeons in Florida. He is also one of the first and only surgeons in South Florida to offer the ROSE and Stomaphyx procedure for patients who have struggled with their weight loss or have gained some weight back after gastric bypass surgery.
