FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Ranked 6th Best Places to Work in Healthcare
(Hollywood, Fla.) — Memorial Healthcare System is ranked #6 nationwide on Modern Healthcare’s Best Places to Work in Healthcare list of top 100 employers for 2009.

“It is a true honor to receive national recognition for creating a work environment of excellence that stands among the best in healthcare,” says Frank V. Sacco, FACHE, Memorial Healthcare System president and chief executive officer. “Empowering, supporting and rewarding employees helps Memorial attract and retain people who are exceptionally talented and dedicated – and who always put the patient first.”

Healthcare companies (providers, suppliers, payers, associations, etc.) from across the country participated in the program, which is conducted by Modern Healthcare magazine in partnership with Best Companies Group, and sponsored by the Studer Group.

Participating employers completed a survey detailing company policies, practices, benefits and demographics. Employees were asked an in-depth set of questions that resulted in an analysis in eight core areas: leadership and planning, culture and communications, role satisfaction, working environment, relationship with supervisor, training and development, pay and benefits and overall satisfaction.

In announcing the rankings, Modern Healthcare editor David Burda wrote that the program “recognizes workplaces in healthcare that enable employees to perform at their optimum level to provide patients and customers with the best possible care and services.”

Quint Studer, founder and CEO of Studer Group, wrote, “A Best Places to Work in Healthcare designation also means committed employees who believe their input is valued; systems, tools and equipment that make their jobs easier; an emphasis on personal development and on reward and recognition.”

Studer also noted that the organizations who were selected share an important quality: values.

“When people in healthcare learn a better way to do something, they don’t go back to the old way. Their values won’t let them,” Studer wrote. “This year’s honorees have executed those better ways. They are well-positioned to succeed in an ever-changing external environment. They are what the healthcare industry needs.”
