Doctors Rate Memorial Healthcare System As One Of The Nation's Leading Places to Practice Medicine
Hospitals Also Received High Marks in Overall Quality of Care

(Hollywood, Fla.) — Physicians that practice at Memorial Healthcare System recently rated its hospitals among the top places nationwide to practice medicine and for providing overall quality of care.

The 121-question survey measuring perception in 13 key areas, such as nursing care, patient safety and delivery of various specialty services, was conducted with physicians rating the hospitals where they practice. Survey results published in 2008 were conducted by Professional Research Consultants (PRC). The survey included answers from 604 medical staff members who work throughout the Healthcare System’s network of hospitals – Memorial Regional Hospital, Memorial Regional Hospital South, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, Memorial Hospital West, Memorial Hospital Miramar and Memorial Hospital Pembroke.

For overall quality of care, physicians’ answers ranked Memorial Healthcare System in the top 3 percent, when compared to PRC’s database of 373 hospitals nationwide. Notably, two of its hospitals, Memorial Hospital Miramar and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, ranked in the top 1 percent for overall quality of care.

Other survey findings included:

• Place to practice medicine: Memorial Healthcare System ranked in the top 3 percent. Memorial Hospital Miramar ranked at the top – 100th percentile. Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital ranked in the 99th percentile.

• Patient safety: Memorial Healthcare System ranked in the top 6 percent, with physicians complimenting Memorial’s ongoing initiatives to improve patient safety.

• Nursing Care: Memorial Healthcare System ranked in the top 10 percent, with physicians giving high marks to nurses for responsiveness to patient/family needs.
