Memorial Regional Hospital South's Molecular Lab Earns Mark of "Excellence"

(Hollywood, Fla.) — Roche Molecular Diagnostics has recognized the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory at Memorial Regional Hospital South as a Molecular Center of Excellence (MCOE). Memorial Regional Hospital South is now part of a network of approximately 30 MCOE molecular laboratories across the U.S. Memorial Regional Hospital South was chosen based on its vision, plan, and having the expertise in place to help grow molecular diagnostics.

Molecular testing in laboratory medicine has become the gold standard for certain infectious disease testing. Memorial Regional Hospital South’s Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory will support viral testing and other types of screenings for hospitals in the Memorial network. Future plans include expanding the types of viral-load testing that can be done in-house. The menu of molecular tests will be driven by the needs of the healthcare system.
