Memorial Hospital Miramar Elects New Officers for Department of Pediatrics

(Miramar, Fla.) — Three physicians were recently elected to leadership positions on the Medical Staff of Memorial Hospital Miramar.

Ben-Emir Sanchez-Alma, MD, board certified in Pediatrics, was elected Chief of Pediatrics. He will be responsible for all matters relating to the Pediatric Medical Staff at Memorial Hospital Miramar. Memorial Hospital Miramar’s Department of Pediatrics has 181 active members.

Scott Lazar, MD, was elected Vice Chief of Pediatrics. He will assume all responsibilities in the absence of the Chief of Pediatrics. Dr. Lazar is board certified in Pediatrics.

Heidi P. Handman, DO, was elected as Member at Large. She is board certified in Pediatrics.

All three physicians also are affiliated with Memorial Hospital West and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.
