Memorial Healthcare System Ranks High in Quality Care and Patient Satisfaction

The numbers are in. The latest federal reports show Memorial Healthcare System hospitals surpass the national, state and local averages in quality care. Memorial hospitals also surpass the national averages in patient satisfaction and are notably higher in ranking when compared with other hospitals in South Florida.

“These impressive rankings reflect our commitment to putting patients first,” said Frank V. Sacco, president and CEO, Memorial Healthcare System. “By almost every measure, Memorial Healthcare System has outperformed the industry, and independent surveys showed more of our patients would definitely recommend our hospitals.”

The quality averages are formulated from statistics gathered in the 12 months ending June 30, 2007, by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS). Satisfaction averages are based on surveys filled out by patients at participating hospitals and submitted to the US Department of Health and Human Services from October 2006 through June 2007. Memorial Measures Up

- Memorial Healthcare System’s average was 96 percent in quality care, compared with the national average of 82 percent. Florida’s average was 83 percent.

- On the patient satisfaction side, Memorial averaged 75 percent, compared with the national average of 67 percent. South Florida hospitals averaged 61 percent.
