Memorial Hospital Miramar Nationally Recognized for Making a Positive Change in the Healthcare Industry

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

(Miramar, Fla.) — Memorial Hospital Miramar (MHM) is the recipient of Studer Group’s February Fire Starter of the Month Award and is honored for its commitment to clinical, service and operational excellence. Studer Group, an outcomes firm that implements evidence-based leadership systems, works with hundreds of healthcare organizations across the country. Every month, it bestows a Fire Starter Award upon an organization that stands out from its peers and serves as a premier example of what is right in healthcare.

“At MHM, The Patient Always Comes First. This simple, yet extremely effective philosophy has been the foundation of everything thing that we do,” said MHM CEO Aurelio Fernandez. “By developing a team of expert leaders who already abided by the Studer Group principles and then by empowering them to handpick every single employee from a pool of over 21,000, we were able to determine who would become members of the Miramar Family. This enabled us to create a culture focused on safety, quality and unprecedented service.”

The Fire Starter of the Month Award is a distinguished honor that Studer Group bestows upon hospitals. A Fire Starter hospital is one that keeps the true essence of the organization alive and flourishing. Fire Starters ignite the flame of service and caring for others that guides and supports the organization and results in measurable positive outcomes.

MHM has made a difference in the lives of others by creating a better place for physicians to practice medicine, employees to work and patients to receive care. The organization’s commitment to excellence is what makes Memorial Hospital Miramar a Fire Starter.

MHM hired first for attitude, integrity and motivation. Next, they focused on compassion, knowledge and ability. Once the right people were in place at MHM, education, training, coaching and mentoring began. With the assistance of Quint Studer and his team of experts at Studer Group, MHM was able to take a very special group of people who already possessed what they describe as “a special light” in their eyes and transform them into the finest group of safety, quality and service professionals in the nation.

MHM employees all round with a purpose, utilize key words at key times, participate in patient call backs, understand and embrace Patient and Family Centered Care and utilize AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explain, Thank) in its interactions with patients, families, physicians and each other.

“We have been active participants in Studer Group’s Leadership Development Institute and fully understand the investment it will take to sustain our success,” said MHM CNO Leah Carpenter. “We are committed, dedicated and determined to always keep our patients first and recognize the challenge of keeping our foundation strong.”

“I cannot think of a more deserving hospital than Memorial Hospital Miramar,” said Lucy Crouch, Studer Group coach. “The people at the hospital are role models, and this award spotlights them as an example for other health care leaders to follow.”
Studer Group is delighted to partner with all of the Fire Starters for future success.
