Memorial Healthcare System Employees are Simply the Best

Broward Community College Health Science Scholarship Program

You can make a difference and help others in your community as a healthcare professional. A medical career is challenging but has many personal and professional rewards such as job stability, competitive salary and benefits, and opportunities for further education and specialization. If you are interested in a healthcare career, the Memorial Healthcare System would like to help you financially attain an Associate of Science Degree at Broward Community College. As a scholarship recipient, the cost of your tuition, fees, and required textbooks will be paid for the duration of your chosen health science program. Scholarships are available in the following areas: Coder Specialist, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Nursing, Radiology, and Respiratory.

The following contains scholarship information and required qualifications:

  • Grade Point Average requirements may vary from program to program. Scholarship eligibility will require the same grade point average that is necessary for acceptance into the health science program of your choice.
  • Students who have completed all requirements, necessary prerequisite courses, have received official notice of admission to their selected health science program, and have completed at least the first term in the program may apply for the scholarship. The scholarship does not cover the expense of prerequisite classes.
  • Deadline dates for the submission of scholarship applications will be given at your Orientation meeting.
  • Please submit the application with two letters of reference. (Preferably one from an instructor, and one from an employer.)
  • The Scholarship awards are based upon merit. After receiving an application, the scholarship coordinator will verify your grade point average, references, and speak with your instructors. If you qualify, you will be invited to participate in a personal interview. Great emphasis will be placed upon the interview in making the selection of scholarship recipients.

If you are selected to receive a scholarship, up to $6,000.00 will be offered in a monetary award for tuition, fees, and books. You must maintain the necessary grade point average to remain in your program. Upon completion of your degree, you will be required to work at one of the Memorial Healthcare facilities. Your employment obligation will be equal to the number of years for which you were sponsored. Placement may be at any of the Healthcare System facilities and work schedules are based on the hours that best support services at the time of hire.
