Memorial Fitness Centers Offer Many Paths to a Healthier New You

December 2007 — If you're like most people, before you ring in the new year, you vow to get in shape and eat right. Unfortunately, most resolutions are forgotten by February.

To stay on track and honor your resolutions for a healthier new you, become a member of Memorial Regional Hospital Fitness & Rehabilitation Center or Memorial Hospital West Fitness & Rehabilitation Center. Each facility offers a dedicated and professional staff, some of the latest weightlifting and cardiovascular equipment, a full schedule of fitness classes and many exciting specialty programs, including:

Body Quest

This individualized physical challenge combines cardiovascular exercise, nutritional guidance, and strength and flexibility training to help you lose weight, shape your body and increase endurance. A team of qualified professionals - including exercise physiologists, registered licensed dietitians, strength and conditioning specialists, certified personal trainers and certified aerobic instructors - will partner with you to create a custom exercise and diet plan, teach you how to use the equipment, work out with you, monitor your progress, and offer guidance every step of the way.

Healthy Habits

Led by a dietitian in a group setting, this 8-week program provides a step-by-step, individualized approach to healthy eating and fitness. You'll establish activity and fitness goals, and learn how to break the diet cycle through balanced nutrition, portion control, exercise and behavior modification, and other techniques. You'll take a grocery tour and become skilled at reading product labels for the healthiest options. You'll also discover new strategies for eating in restaurants and "on the run."

Nutrition Counseling

With guidance from professionals, set the personal nutritional goals you need to achieve a healthier lifestyle. Registered dietitians at Memorial Fitness & Rehabilitation Centers offer expertise in dietary analysis and consultation for weight management, cardiovascular nutrition, sports nutrition, vegetarian and plant-based diets, and peri-menopausal symptom management.

Personal Training

One-on-one sessions with a staff exercise physiologist/personal trainer can assist you in improving endurance, muscle tone, strength and flexibility; training for a sport; learning to exercise safely and effectively; losing or gaining weight; or recovering from an injury.

These are just a few of the many programs that can help reveal a healthier new you. For a complete list, call Memorial Regional Hospital Fitness & Rehabilitation Center at (954) 265-5800 or Memorial Hospital West Fitness & Rehabilitation Center at
