Memorial Manor Nursing Home Awarded Gold Seal for Excellence
July 2002 — Memorial Manor Nursing Home recently received the Gold Seal Award from the State of Florida Panel of Excellence for Long-Term Care. Memorial Manor was one of six facilities — and the only public nursing home — to earn the award. Created by legislators two years ago to promote quality care, the Gold Seal recognizes nursing homes providing "exceptional" care.
The application process and the criteria for eligibility were strict. Facilities had to rank within the top 25 percent of regional facilities on 30 months' worth of state inspections, as well as show a low staff-turnover rate. In addition, every facility was visited by a representative from the 13-member state Gold Seal panel.
Memorial Manor, one of five facilities that comprise Memorial Healthcare System, provides services ranging from short-term rehabilitative care to long-term nursing home care. In a home-like environment that includes sun-filled rooms, a cozy gazebo and a picturesque lake, Memorial Manor strives to treat every resident with care, respect and dignity.
"Awards may get bestowed on facilities, but it's people who win awards," says William Edelstein, Administrator for Memorial Manor. "This is a tribute to the staff for what they do every day."
This recent Gold Seal designation complements Memorial Manor's current distinction as a five-star facility from the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration. In a visit on Tuesday, July 23rd, Lieutenant Governor Frank Brogan met and congratulated the Board of Commissioners of Memorial Healthcare System for receiving this distinct honor.
