A Spirited Discussion About "Life, Love and Laughter" with Dr. Ruth Westheimer
October 2004 — Memorial Foundation's Rodenberg Lecture Series will present psychosexual therapist, author and "sexual literacy" expert Dr. Ruth Westheimer on Thursday, October 28, at the Design Center of the Americas (DCOTA), 1855 Griffin Road, Dania Beach, Florida.
Dr. Ruth (Ruth Karola Westheimer, PhD) is America's foremost sex therapist. She became a fixture of popular culture in the 1980s with her New York-based radio program, Sexually Speaking, which featured her open and frank discussions about sex. Since then, she has pioneered a renowned career as a psychosexual therapist dedicated to addressing and de-stigmatizing subjects such as sex and the media, women's health issues, condom use and relationships. Dr. Ruth is a well-known lecturer, radio and TV personality, and a professor at New York University, as well as the author of Dr. Ruth's Encyclopedia of Sex and many other books on human sexuality.
The evening's event will begin at 6pm, with Dr. Ruth speaking at 7pm. Admission is free, and the public is invited to participate in Dr. Ruth's informative and open discussion.
A VIP reception with Dr. Ruth follows the free presentation. Tickets to the VIP event are $100. Proceeds benefit the Memorial Foundation, helping to ensure that Memorial Healthcare System can continue to provide high-quality medical services to the community, regardless of patients' ability to pay.
As part of Memorial Healthcare System's observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Dr. Ruth's appearance is made possible by the Dr. Thomas A. and Joan Rodenberg Endowment to the Memorial Foundation. The endowment was set up to start a lecture series, which provides educational programs about women's health issues.
