March 2002 - The Fitness & Rehabilitation Center at Memorial Regional Hospital and the Fitness and Rehabilitation Center at Memorial Hospital West invite older adults to sign up for strength training and other classes. A Senior Membership gives you access to facilities and includes the following services:
- Aerobics
- Yoga
- Exercise classes
- Cardiovascular equipment
- Weight loss programs
- Resistance machines and free weights
- Free towel service and daily use of lockers
The Fitness and Rehabilitation Center at Memorial Hospital West offers one-on-one strength training classes. Certified exercise physiologists are available to create a fitness program that meets your needs and your goals. Instructors and personal trainers provide support and personalize your workout.
The Fitness & Rehabilitation Center at Memorial Regional Hospital offers the following strength training courses for seniors:
Exercise Therapy
"The Exercise Therapy class originally started as a physical therapy program for people who have suffered a stroke," says Anthony Rucerito, Program Coordinator for the Fitness & Rehabilitation Center at Memorial Regional Hospital. "The class now offers strength training for seniors with conditions ranging from osteoporosis to Parkinson's disease." This class meets on the following days:
Monday, Wednesday and Firday
2:15pm - 3:15pm
Tuesdays and Thursdays
12:00pm - 1:00pm 1:00pm-2:00pm
Sit & Tone
"The Sit & Tone class is for older adults whose movements are limited," says Toni LaRusso, Fitness Instructor for the Fitness & Rehabilitation Center at Memorial Regional Hospital. "Seniors use a chair as their 'training partner' during strength training exercises." This class meets on the following days:
Tuesdays and Thursdays
