Teamwork is essential to successfully treating cancer, and Memorial Cancer Institute has an elite group of cancer specialists who work together as a team. This approach includes participation in oncology case conferences, where representatives of various medical specialties discuss diagnoses and possible courses of treatment for specific patients.
Through outpatient and home health services, patients live as normal a life as possible. Every staff member has received specialized education and training and, in many cases, certification.
The team includes medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, hematologists, nurse practitioners, certified chemotherapy nurses, radiation therapists, pharmacists, physicists, dosimetrists, social workers, laboratory technologists, dietitians, exercise physiologists, clergy and home health professionals. In addition, hundreds of physicians within Memorial Healthcare System are available to lend their assistance and expertise.
